Operator/Owner/Head Trainer

DSC1Mirna's Journey as a dog trainer started when they adopted a 8 month old pup, Chicha from Mexico. Chicha had numerous training and behavioral challenges such as separation anxiety and reactivity towards small animals. Mirna had dedicated her life to help dogs like Chicha and theirs owners to have happy and harmonious lives. Mirna graduated with a certification as a dog trainer and behaviorist in 2006 and expanded her expertise into animal medicine by becoming a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) in 2013.

It has been very rewarding working with hundreds of dogs and owners, teaching them positive ways to communicate, rehabilitate and train their dogs. Mirna is our head trainer and she teaches all levels of group classes including Puppy Basics, Basic Obedience, Intermediate Obedience and Canine Good Citizen. Her specialty is behavior rehabilitation (aggression and fear),  working with rescued dogs,  working on behaviors best addressed at the dog’s home like New Baby Introduction, Walk & Train, Leash Reactivity, and Obedience. She is devoted to continued education trough reading, attending seminars, and following her favorite trainers and behaviorists such as Karen Pryor, Ian Dunbar, Patricia McConnell, Emma Parson and many more.

In addition to dog training, Mirna also teaches at our day school, provides pet sitting and dog walking services for our Phoenix and Scottsdale clients. She resides in Phoenix with her loving family of five. Hubby Eric, son, Christian and her three dogs, Duki, Chicha and Biggy.

DSC00651Eric's love of animals began as a child growing up in Brooklyn, NY. Throughout his childhood he had a variety of pets, including dogs, cats, birds, and fish. Eric has always had a passion for sharing knowledge.

As an officer in the U.S. Navy, Eric held many leadership positions, allowing him to hone his knack for teaching and sharing what he's learned with others.

He became interested in dog training and behavior as a way to improve his relationship with his pets, focusing positive behavior theory and methods. As his knowledge improved he was able to share that knowledge with other members of his community. Additionally, his love of sharing knowledge led Eric to earn a certification as an Elementary School teacher and teaching fifth grade science and social studies, motivating and inspiring children in a high-needs community. Eric is currently pursuing his dog training certification and provides pet sitting and dog walking services for all our customers.

DSC0310Lena has spent most of her life around dogs.  As a young child, up until the present day, dogs have been an integral part of her family.  At the time when she was growing up, there were many stray dogs roaming the streets and she took them in and made them part of the family.  Unfortunately, the majority of the training methods at the time were based on fear and punishment techniques in which Lena and her dogs were uncomfortable with.  Thus, she realized that in order to get the dogs the proper training she would have to take up the cause herself and find other ways of accomplishing this.  Ahead of the times, she began to use positive reinforcement methods and discovered great results.

After years of working with her own dogs she realized it was time to expand her love for dogs in more ways.  Before coming to the US, Lena and her family helped to establish a “no kill” pet shelter in the Balkan region of Europe.   This experience has allowed Lena to work with many different types of dogs from many different situations .  Upon moving to the US, Lena did volunteer work at pet shelters in Fort Worth, Texas and a German Shepherd Rescue based in the Dallas-Fort Worth Area.  For Learning Pawsibilities, Lena trains and plays with our guests, provides dog walking, leash training, and pet sitting.  She lives in Phoenix with her her family; Gregor the human and Tara the German Shepherd.

DSC0306Gregor became interested in the lives of dogs at a young age.  His father would take him and his sisters to the library to check out books on subjects they were interested in and Gregor naturally gravitated towards books about dogs.  He was fascinated by all the different dog breeds and their temperaments and behaviors.  Believing that dogs truly are mans best friend, he took his dogs everywhere he went, to the beach, hiking and camping trips, even to local baseball games.

While living in Fort Worth, TX he helped to organize several dog adoption events on the TCU campus as well as local coffee shops. Realizing there was a great need to help rescue dogs, he got involved with several pet shelters in Fort Worth and a German Shepherd rescue operating throughout the Dallas Fort Worth Area.

Gregor, with his pack, Lena and Tara the German Shepherd opened their home to foster dogs waiting for adoption and to offer daycare services.  At Learning Pawsiblities, Gregor will be insuring that our guests have a fun and informative time during daycare and will be taking dogs  on Outside Adventures.
